Wed in the Mountains

Because I know Lori, I had some ideas already.  She had asked me to brainstorm. Lori and her family have raised Old English Sheepdogs for year (see the cards). Lori is a nurse. I did not really know anything about Ed.  I figured we would work his details in as the concept progressed.  Pictured to the right is the first idea I sent Lori.  Two youngsters dressed up in oversize clothes, meeting for the first time, while caring for their animals. Similar to those cute black and white hand-colored cards you see in the store.

It was then she described what her and Ed had come up with....  I uploaded the visuals via the internet for them to see. When I do this, I give the client a web page that only they can get to - so there is some privacy to the process. Of course the original sketches and images I upload are larger then those shown here.

Lori had relocated to the mountains of North Carolina, along with her parents and soon Ed would be relocating, too.

She asked if I could come up with a small, old country church in the mountains.  She wanted a Cross in the image. Also, the Bride and Groom to be outside with nature (even though it would be an indoor wedding).  I liked the idea a lot.  In speaking with her mom, I got a basic description of her gown, and the tux.  I did two sketches. Lori also asked if I could work their two cats into the design.  She immediately picked this sketch, saying it was exactly what she had in mind.  She like the Cross in the sketch on the left and the birds. I incorporated that into the final artwork.  Both designs were three panels that folded into a "z" fold.  Printing on one side saves money.
Their wedding was going to be in November, so they were going with burgundy and dark greens. I had to find some paper and ink colors based on my conversation with Lori and her mom.

Internet Notes to Lori & Ed:
I am working on a sample I can upload this weekend for the look we discussed. Also, a nice fiber paper in a white or gold with a dark green ink would look very nice.  Or a deep burgundy ink color on white.  Or silver on black...decisions, decisions...!  Well, here's the art.  I hope you like it.
