My wedding invitation...
Historical Buildings

Both Jack and I are from other states. So, we created a "save the date" card which included the motel we had selected for our guests. We wanted the invitations to be special, and because we were getting married in historic places with so many family "tourists" attending, we wanted the invitation to be informative. I did some research with the historical society and then got permission to use some of their information. There were three postcards wrapped in matching paper that opened like a gift. The guest removed the invitation from the envelope than had to untie rafia and remove a decorative sticker. My artwork was inside as a small token or gift. The artwork was done in pen and ink. You'll notice I work a lot in graphite now. That is my preferred medium. This invitation is what started it all! Read my story.

The Church
Jack and I started out with the reception location. We than had to find a church. The one we attended was not big enough and had very dark red windows. As a photo major in college, I could imagine what the photos would look like. So, after much discussion we selected a wonderfully historic Presbyterian Church that was located only one block from our reception location. Jack said it would be so much easier on our guest from out of town...and he was right. The history of the church was on the back.

The Wedding Reception

We were very excited about where our wedding reception was taking place, the historic Peanut Warehouse in Conway. It was just being updated for events with a new kitchen area. We would be the first event to use the building. Jack and I met because of a folk art festival held in this very building, so it was very special!

The RSVP card was a self-mailer. Just fill it out and drop it in the mail. My background in non-profit taught me how cost effective postcards can be!

Thank You Cards

I designed two cards. The first card was for our wedding showers - we had three (three states!). During our first telephone conversation we discovered two things we both loved: cowboy boots and American muscle cars.

The shower thank you card incorporated boots! A foreshadowing of what I would wear under my wedding gown. I designed the shaft of my boot above with wedding bells. A rope is thrown around my boots - like the cowboy caught me. Our Wedding Thank You incorporates a different view of the church, the wonderful moss covered live oak, and Jack's 1971 Ford Torino GT convertible we used in the Wedding. (Complete with my German Shepard "Kodak" in the back sit with a bow around her neck.
